His chest x-ray is normal. The heart size is normal, the lungs are clear and the mediastinum is normal. The boney structures are intact. It is unclear why he was admitted to the ICU and he was discharged to home in a walking boot with orthopedic follow-up. He did well and other than foot pain had no complaints after discharge.
About 3 weeks after his injury, he revisited his chiropractor for chronic neck pain and stiffness. Since that day he has had new complaints of orthopnea and dyspnea on exertion. He was seen in an outpatient care facility the following day and a chest x-ray was performed. He was referred to the same outside hospital and admitted with a diagnosis of pneumonia.
